Oil sludge processing

  • Category: Ecology and oil and gas

The purpose of the project is to create an environmentally safe and waste-free production of oil sludge (oil production waste) processing with extraction of commercial oil and dry sand harmless to the environment, which have no analogues in the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The presence of oil sludge pits has a negative impact on the environment - air, soil, groundwater, flora and fauna. The atmosphere is polluted with decomposition and evaporation products. There is a danger of organic oil products penetration into the soil and their migration with groundwater to significant distances from storage sites. In addition, significant areas of land are allocated for sludge storages, which are completely disconnected from active agricultural production.
Today, there is a steady trend of decarbonization of the world's major economies. The number of countries that have declared carbon neutrality and coal phase-out goals is growing annually. Kazakhstan also actively follows the global trends of “green” development.
The design capacity is currently 70 thousand tons per year. In the future - up to 1 million tons per year.
Commissioning is phased in from 2023 through 2027.
